Not sure if its already on the product roadmap, or if its possible, but it would be great if we could export the budget in Modano back into the connected Xero file.
While we build the budgets in Modano we also need it to be in Xero so we can report against it in other reporting tools that link to Xero such as Fathom. Currently I am doing this with Excel imports and using Claude to map between the two budget formats. But it would be great if this could be done with one click straight out of Modano.
Thanks for posting, we’ve only recently launched this forum so it’s good to see you’ve found it!
We can explore adding this functionality, but it’s something we’re hoping isn’t necessary in a couple of months as we’re releasing a cloud analytics and reporting layer to our platform which will provide you will all the reporting capabilities of apps like Fathom directly from your financial models.
Our team have been building this over the past few months and it’s coming along better than we ever imagined and is crazy cool. You’ll basically be able to construct and customize cloud reports by adding pages and choosing from hundreds of customizable widgets, or create your own widgets showing anything from within your model or Xero. All in your browser live synced.
Our goal with this is to basically become an end-to-end finance function containing all your financial analysis, budgeting, planning, scenario analysis and reporting in one place, rather than needing different apps for financial modelling and reporting.
We’d love you to check it out in few weeks when we’re beta testing it and provide feedback if you’re open to this?
To the extent that what we’re building doesn’t make Fathom obsolete based on your requirements, we’d love to know what it would need to do so.
As a last resort, we could allocate resources to building an export tool but this would be a big step backwards for us as the dream has always been everything in one place…
I remember Ewan talking about this when we caught up a few weeks back. Sounds like you have some lofty goals with the project!
My initial thoughts/feedback on the idea was that it will need to support 3rd-party data input into the model, either through connectors or manual entry. Then the ability to create custom KPI’s metrics from there is important.
Yes, I would be very keen to test it when it reaches beta. More than happy to help make Fathom redundant
